Teiunkanjo (English)
This collection of calligraphers and painters from the Ming Dynasty, Wen Zhengming, engraved this collection together with his son Wen Jia. It was completed in 1560 (the 39th year of the Jiajing era) after 23 years of work, and included famous works from the Jin and Tang dynasties, as well as legal texts from the Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties. Additional works were added each time a new name was acquired, so there are three versions with four volumes, ten volumes, and twelve volumes, and it is said to have many varieties, including a reprint by Zhang Mao Gong. The selection is extremely good, and it includes both traditional and cursive calligraphy, making it the most excellent collection of legal texts from the Ming dynasty. Tingyun is the name of Wen Zhengming's study, based on the poetic words of Tao Qian (Yuanming). [Masakazu Fukumoto]
