[Classification of fatigue]
Fatigue can be divided into acute and chronic fatigue depending on how it manifests (Figure). Acute fatigue can be divided into acute fatigue in the narrow sense, which occurs over a short period of time, from a few minutes to a few tens of minutes, and subacute fatigue, which occurs over a period of a few hours, both of which can be cured with a relatively short period of rest. Chronic fatigue, on the other hand, can be divided into diurnal fatigue, in which a day's work or activity is cured by relaxing or sleeping at home on the same day, and chronic fatigue in the narrow sense, in which recovery takes place over a period of a week, including days off.
