Japanese: ツツジ(躑躅) - ツツジ（英語表記）azalea

A shrub or tree of the genus Rhododendron in the family Ericaceae. The leaves are evergreen or deciduous, alternate, not sawtoothed, and have water holes at the tips. The flowers are bell-shaped or sometimes tubular, with 5 to 8 lobes at the tip. The number of stamens is equal to or twice as many as the number of corolla lobes, and the anthers have holes at the tips to scatter pollen. The capsule consists of 4 to 5 lobes, and the back of the lobes splits vertically to scatter numerous small seeds. About 850 species are known worldwide. The genus Rhododendron is generally divided into deciduous azaleas and evergreen rhododendrons.
