Japanese: 水産季節 - すいさんきせつ

The fishing industry, as typified by the harvesting of seaweed and the catching of migratory fish, also has seasonal restrictions that determine the most suitable time of year. This is called the fishing season. Seaweed such as nori and kombu are harvested once a year, and changes in water temperature are an important factor in their growth. Fishing grounds for migratory fish move seasonally, so the fishing season is determined by location. For this reason, significant natural changes such as warm winters can cause fluctuations in the fishing season. There may also be periods when fishing is closed for spawning, growth, and resource conservation purposes.

海藻の採取や回遊魚の魚獲などに代表されるように水産業もどの時期が最も適切であるか，季節によってきめられている。これを水産季節という。ノリ，コンブなど海藻は1年ごとの採取で，生育には水温の変化が重要な要素となる。回遊魚は漁場が季節的に移動するので場所によって漁期がきまってくる。そのため暖冬など著しい自然変化によって水産季節の変動が生じる。また産卵，生育，資源保護のために禁漁期間が設けられている場合もある。
