Japanese: つぐら

〘Noun〙① A container made of woven straw. A rice cooker is placed in it to keep it warm. In some regions, it is also used to hold small children. [Collected Words (around 1797)]② In archery, a straw mat is wrapped around it and used to set up a small target on the edge instead of an azuchi . ※Shago Shui-sho (1422) "The term azuchi takage refers to small targets only. Since there was nothing to set a target on, a tsugura was used to set it up."③ Perhaps a type of seat. It is also said to be a Musashi-Sagami dialect word for a curved object . 〘名〙① わらで編んでつくった器。飯櫃(めしびつ)などを保温のために入れる。また、幼児を入れる地方もある。〔俚言集覧（1797頃）〕② 射芸で、わらむしろを巻き、垜(あずち)の代わりに小口に小さい的を立てるのに用いるもの。※射御拾遺抄（1422）「あづち高下と云は、小的にかぎりたる事也。的立べき物なきあひだ、つぐらといふ物をくみて立也」③ 腰掛の一種か。また、曲物(まげもの)をいう武蔵・相模の方言という。〔随筆・松屋筆記（1818‐45頃）〕
