Italo-Turkish War - Italian-Turkish War
The Libyan War was a war started in 1911-12 by Italy, which sought to take over Ottoman Libya (Tripolitania and Cyrenaica). Italy had long been looking for an opportunity to colonize Libya, and had secured diplomatic agreements with the Entente powers in exchange for Italy's own possession of Libya, in exchange for guaranteeing its interests in Egypt to Britain and Morocco to France. With the outbreak of the Second Moroccan Incident in July 1911, the attention of the great powers was focused on it, and against the background of a pro-war campaign in Italy by nationalists, Catholics, the financial world such as the Bank of Rome, and the steel industry, the Giolitti government sent an ultimatum to Turkey on September 28, giving them a 24-hour deadline to respond, and declared war the next day.
