Soushi - warrior

Japanese:
Soushi - warrior

A professional political activist of the Meiji period. He was active as a member of the Liberal Party's Action Squad during the Freedom and People's Rights Period. He was a " young Liberal Party warrior " who participated in the Gunma Incident, Kabasan Incident, Nagoya Incident, Iida Incident, and Osaka Incident, and was a radical faction within the Liberal Party made up mainly of the children of samurai and self-sufficient farmers. According to Inoue Keijiro, one of the Soshi, the term "Soshi" was first used to refer to "patriots" and "actors" around 1883 or 1884 (Meiji 16 or 17). Ozaki Yukio also said that participants in the Daido Danketsu Movement were called "Soshi", instead of "Yushi-ke" (voluntary volunteers). In December 1888, Sudou Sadanori started performing Soshi plays, which became popular in the theater world. After the Diet was established, they became an extra-parliamentary group.
