White paper on education
The first white paper compiled by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology was published in November 1959 as a commemorative event for Education and Culture Week, entitled "Educational Standards in Japan." Since then, it has been published almost every year on important educational issues, such as youth education, education in remote areas, economic growth and education, higher education, educational standards, social education, the health and physical fitness of young people, and private universities.

文部科学省が作成する白書で,1959年11月,教育文化週間の記念事業として『わが国の教育水準』を発表したのが最初。以後ほぼ毎年,教育上の重要問題をテーマにして発表される。そのテーマは,青年教育,僻地教育,経済成長と教育,高等教育,教育水準,社会教育,青少年の健康と体力,私立大学などとなっている。
