Monophony (English spelling)

It is a method of forming textures (sound composition principle) in music, focusing on monophony. Even if the phenomenon is polyphonic, if it follows musical conventions that consider unison and parallel octaves to be homophonic, it is considered monophony in consciousness. This type of polyphony is sometimes considered a type of homophony, a sound composition principle that emphasizes the vertical plane of sound. It is characterized by a monophonic melody that is prominent on the surface, and the lyrics are easy to hear, and is typically seen in folk songs of various ethnic groups, and medieval European religious and secular songs.
