The Renan Brothers

French painter brothers. Three of the five brothers were painters: Antoine le Nain (c. 1600-48), Louis le Nain (c. 1605-48), and Mathieu le Nain (1610-77). All were born in Laon and died in Paris. There are many unknowns about their biographies. They are known to have moved to Paris and become members of the Academie in 1648. フランスの画家兄弟。5人兄弟のうち3人が画家で，順にアントアーヌAntoine le Nain(1600ころ‐48)，ルイLouis le Nain(1605ころ‐48)，マチューMathieu le Nain(1610‐77)。ともにランに生まれ，パリで没。その伝記には不明の部分が多い。パリに出，1648年そろってアカデミーの会員となったことが知られる。これは，3人が共同して制作に当たっていたがゆえと考えられる。
