The basic types of electric motors are as above, but there are many variations and combinations with other devices. A pole-changing induction motor is an electric motor that can change speed in two or more stages, and a geared motor, brake motor, and clutch motor are assembled with a reduction gear, brake, or clutch, respectively. An electric motor that is built into a working machine, such as the compressor of an electric refrigerator, is called a built-in motor.
