JJ Rousseau's autobiography. The original title is "Les confessions," or sometimes "The Confessions." Rousseau, who spent the latter half of his life suffering from delusions of persecution, dissects his own character and circumstances in the form of a confession of the "I" as it is, and while frankly telling the history of his "soul," both good and evil, he movingly portrays a new image of man based on the modern ego. Written in 1765, both parts 1 and 2 were published posthumously. It became one of the sources of modern literature, and had a great influence on Japanese naturalism. → Related article Autobiography Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
