The Trusteeship of Korea issue

Japanese: 朝鮮信託統治問題 - ちょうせんしんたくとうちもんだい

On December 28, 1945, the Moscow Conference of Foreign Ministers of the Three Powers (US, UK, USSR) announced a decision regarding postwar settlement following World War II, which made it clear that Korea would be placed under trusteeship for five years. This proposal for trusteeship came as a strong shock to the Korean people, who had suffered under Japanese colonial rule and had finally won their independence. Kim Gu and other members of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea (Provisional Government) who had returned from China immediately formed the Committee for the National Mobilization Movement Against Trusteeship, and other political parties and organizations also declared their opposition to the trusteeship, holding anti-trusteeship demonstrations every day, with the rally and demonstrations on the 31st reaching an unprecedented scale.

第2次世界大戦後の戦後処理をめぐって1945年12月28日モスクワ三国外相会議(アメリカ，イギリス，ソ連)の決定が発表され，その中で朝鮮に関しては5年の信託統治を行うことが明らかにされた。この信託統治案は日本の植民地支配の下で苦しみ，ようやく独立をかちとった朝鮮民族に強い衝撃を与えた。金九ら中国から帰国した大韓民国臨時政府(臨政)グループはただちに信託統治反対国民総動員運動委員会を結成，他の政党･団体も信託統治反対を声明し，連日〈反託〉デモを展開，31日の集会･デモは空前の規模に達した。
