Daishomu - Ojomu

Japanese: 大聖武 - おおじょうむ
Daishomu - Ojomu
A sutra copy in large regular characters from the Nara period. It is said to be the imperial handwriting of Emperor Shomu, according to an appraisal by an old calligrapher, and is commonly known as Daishomu. Depending on the size of the characters, some copies are called Chushomu or Koshomu. It was copied on special paper called dabi-shi, and shows a bold and elegant style of calligraphy. The "Kengukyo Volume 15" (Todaiji Temple and others) and "Kengukyo Remaining Volume" (Todaiji Temple, Hakutsuru Museum of Art and others) are well-known national treasures.
