Gauge particles related to the weak interaction include W + and W- (where ± represents charge), which have a charge of ±1, and Z0, which is electrically neutral. Since W ± particles only have a charge of ±1, for example, W- decays to a state with a charge of -1 in the final state, as in W- →e+ or W- →+n (e,ν,p,n are the electron, neutrino, proton, and neutron, respectively, and - represents their respective antiparticles). If we rearrange the particles, this becomes n→p+e+, and W- is related to normal beta decay. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
