〘noun〙① A sound of medium height, neither too high nor too low. A medium-height voice. ※Warambegusa (1660) 2 "The above is the correct upper, middle, and lower notes of the character."② One of the melodies of the Heike Biwa. A melodic mid-range tune, sung with detailed and mysterious phrasing. ※Seikai Yotekishu (early 17th century?) "The mid-range tone is five feet high, taketakaoshite cool and pure."③ In music, a tone in a range that indicates a medium height.
