Tea boy - Chabouzu

Japanese:
Tea boy - Chabouzu

A job title for samurai in the Muromachi, Azuchi-Momoyama and Edo periods. It is also called simply "sado" (tea ceremony), or "chado monk," "chaya monk," or "sukiya monk." It is also called "monk" because people engaged in the tea ceremony with shaved heads. In the Edo Shogunate, under the Dobogashira (younger retainers) under the Wakadoshiyori (younger retainers), there were several Okubozu (head of the inner chamber) (with a stipend of 50 koku, two stipends, 27 ryo tax, a town house, an audience with the Emperor, and a position in the Tokei-no-mazume room, two and a half ba) and around 100 Okubozu (former Konando monks, with a stipend of 20 koku, two stipends, 23 ryo tax, a town house, an audience with the Emperor, and a position in the Tokei-no-mazume room, two and a half ba) who served tea to the Shogun, daimyo, and other officials in the palace (incidentally, the Omote monks were responsible for serving the daimyo and other officials). In addition to these, there was also a Hiroma monk who was in charge of serving tea. By the way, under the same Wakadoshiyori, there were the Sukiyabozu group leader, Sukiyabozu, Rojitsukuriyaku, and Rojinomono, who were mainly in charge of managing the teahouses and gardens.
