Japanese: チャマダラセセリ - ちゃまだらせせり

A small insect of the Hesperiidae family of the Lepidoptera order. It is a small species with a span of 2.5 to 3 cm. Its base color is dark brown, and its name comes from the fine white spots scattered all over it. It is distributed through Myanmar, northern China, the Amur region, and the Korean Peninsula to Japan, and can be seen in the mountainous areas of Hokkaido, Honshu, and Shikoku, but its distribution is narrow and limited. It emerges twice a year, with the spring type emerging from late April to mid-May and the summer type emerging from late July to mid-August. The summer type is larger than the spring type, and the white spots are smaller. It lives in dry grasslands, and is often seen in the foothills of volcanoes.

鱗翅目セセリチョウ科の昆虫。小型種で開張2.5～3cm。地色は暗褐色，細かい白点を散布することにその名の由来がある。ミャンマー，中国北部，アムール地方，朝鮮半島を経て日本まで分布し，北海道，本州，四国の山地に見られるが，分布は狭く限られている。年2回発生し，春型は4月下旬～5月中旬，夏型は7月下旬～8月中旬ころに羽化する。夏型は春型に比べて大型で，それぞれの白点が小さくなる。乾燥した草原にすみ，とくに火山のすそ野などに多く見られる。
