A condition in which a hole appears in the stomach wall and passes completely through to the abdominal cavity. When a hole appears but is covered by an adjacent organ such as the pancreas, it is called a covered perforation. Perforation most often occurs as a complication of gastric or duodenal ulcers. It can also occur as a result of stomach cancer, accidentally ingesting a foreign body, or trauma. In many cases, surgery is required. → Gastric ulcer/Duodenal ulcer Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
