1667‐1754 French architect. Born in Nantes, he studied at the Academie de Architectura in Paris. He studied under J.H. Mansart and became a member of the Academie de Architectura in 1709. He left behind a number of works in Paris in the first half of the 18th century, including the Amelot mansion (1712-14), and is particularly known for its interior design, which is in the rococo style. He was also appointed chief architect of the Duchy of Lorraine in 1708, and designed several castles, including the Château de Lunéville (1702-06).
