Born November 8, 1819. Son of a physician in the Mutsu Hirosaki Domain (Aomori Prefecture). Learned medicine from Izawa Ranken and Confucianism from Kariya Ekisai. After working as a physician in the Hirosaki Domain, he became a lecturer at the Shogunate Medical School Seijukan, where he edited the Ishinpo. Well versed in historical research, he published Keiseki Hokoshi with Mori Risshi and others. Died of cholera on August 29, 1858. He was 54 years old. His given name was Zenzen Kaneyoshi.
