Ise clan

Kanmu Heishi. They are said to be descendants of Korehira. They served the Muromachi Shogunate and were active in both literature and martial arts. In the Edo period, they became a samurai family known as the Ise line. Their history before the Kamakura period is unclear, but they are thought to have been close vassals of the Ashikaga clan. Sadatsugu (dharma name Shozen), who was highly trusted by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, was appointed as the steward of the Mandokoro in 1379 (Tenju 5, Koryaku 1), and since then the main line has inherited the position of steward of the Mandokoro. People from the branch lines also served close to the Shogun as his right-hand man and guards (Imperial guards). He was well versed in the annals of the samurai family and left behind works such as "Ise Sadachika's Writings," "Ise Kaga no Kami Sadamitsu's Notes," "Josho Gusou," and "Dosho Gusou." He was a descendant of Ise Sadatake, who wrote "Teijo Zakki" and "Anzai Zuihitsu" at his late family home in the Edo period.

桓武平氏(かんむへいし)。維衡(これひら)の子孫といわれる。室町幕府に仕え、文武にわたり活躍した。江戸時代には伊勢流とよばれる武家故実(こじつ)家となった。鎌倉時代以前の事歴は明らかでないが、足利(あしかが)氏の近臣であったと思われる。足利義満(よしみつ)の信任が厚かった貞継(さだつぐ)（法名照禅）は、1379年（天授5・康暦1）政所(まんどころ)の執事に任ぜられ、以来嫡流は政所執事を世襲した。庶流の人々も将軍の右筆(ゆうひつ)となったり、御番衆(ごばんしゅう)（近衛兵(このえへい)）になるなどして将軍に近侍した。武家故実に通じ、『伊勢貞親以来伝書(いせさだちかいらいでんしょ)』『伊勢加賀守貞満筆記(いせかがのかみさだみつひっき)』『常照愚草(じょうしょうぐそう)』『道照愚草(どうしょうぐそう)』などを残している。江戸時代の故実家で『貞丈雑記(ていじょうざっき)』『安斎随筆』を著した伊勢貞丈(さだたけ)は子孫である。
