Thioether

The official name is sulfide. It refers to a compound R-S-R' in which a sulfur atom replaces the oxygen atom of an ether. Methyl ethyl sulfide (methyl ethyl thioether) CH 3 SC 2 H 5 is one example. 正式にはスルフィドとよぶ。エーテルの酸素原子の代りに硫黄原子の入った化合物R−S−R′をいう。メチルエチルスルフィド（メチルエチルチオエーテル）CH3SC2H5はその一例。硫黄化合物特有のにおいがある。酸化するとスルホキシドR−SO−R′，あるいはスルホンR−SO2−R′となる。
