Thioindigo (English spelling) thioindigo

Also known as 2,2'-bisthionaphthene indigo dye, it is a type of indigoid vat dye. It was discovered in 1905 by Paul Friedländer (1857-1923) of Germany. Depending on the type and position of the substituents, it can be obtained in a variety of hues, with the most important being red to reddish purple.

Since there are few good red dyes among indanthrene dyes, thioindigo dyes are added to the red indanthrene dyes.

2,2'-ビスチオナフテンインジゴ染料ともいわれ、インジゴイド系バット染料の一種である。1905年にドイツのフリードレンダーPaul Friedländer（1857―1923）により発見された。置換基の種類と位置により種々の色相のものが得られるが、赤から赤紫色のものが重要である。

　インダンスレン染料には良好な赤色系染料が少ないために、チオインジゴ系染料が、赤色系インダンスレン染料に加えられている。
