Tango Mountains - Tangosanchi

Japanese:
Tango Mountains - Tangosanchi

A mountain range that stretches from northwest Kyoto to northeast Hyogo. Its main peak is Mt. Oe (832 meters). It borders the Tamba Highlands to the east by the Yura River, and the Tajima Mountains to the west by the Maruyama River. Like the Tamba Highlands, it is a mountain range of dissected elevated peneplains, but unlike the Tamba Highlands, which are mainly made up of Paleozoic strata, the Tango Mountains are based on granite, with Tertiary strata and andesite and rhyolite that flowed in the Tertiary period widely distributed. It is divided into many small land masses at an altitude of 400 to 600 meters by small faults running vertically and horizontally. The Tango Peninsula is a land mass that protrudes northeastward into the Sea of Japan, and in the south there is the Oe Mountains massif that rises east-west. There is little flat land and a lot of snowfall, so agriculture is generally sluggish and depopulation is severe. The Tango Chirimen textile industry was once a thriving side job for farmers, but is now stagnant.
