Darius [III] - Darius
The last king of the Achaemenid Empire (reigned 336-330 BC). After ascending to the throne, he overthrew the eunuch Bagoas and purged the government, but was invaded by Alexander the Great, defeated at Issus (333 BC) and Gaugamela (331 BC), and was assassinated while on the run.
