A town in Fuwa County in the southwest of Gifu Prefecture. It occupies the Ai River basin, a tributary of the Ibi River. The central settlement developed as a post town at the junction of the Nakasendo and Mino areas, and the Tokaido Main Line passes through it. There are factories producing machinery, metals, textiles, etc., and rice is also thriving, with dried persimmons and tea being specialties. Nangu Shrine is located here. Area: 57.09 km2 . 岐阜県南西部，不破(ふわ)郡の町。揖斐(いび)川の支流相(あい)川の流域を占め，中心集落は中山道と美濃地の分岐点の宿場町として発達，東海道本線が通じる。機械，金属，繊維などの工場があり，米作も盛んで，干し柿，茶などを特産。南宮(なんぐう)神社がある。57.09km2。２万8505人（2010）。
