A town in Fuwa County in the southwest of Gifu Prefecture. It occupies the Ai River basin, a tributary of the Ibi River. The central settlement developed as a post town at the junction of the Nakasendo and Mino areas, and the Tokaido Main Line passes through it. There are factories producing machinery, metals, textiles, etc., and rice is also thriving, with dried persimmons and tea being specialties. Nangu Shrine is located here. Area: 57.09 km2 .
