Arjuna

A hero who appears in the great Indian epic poem, the Mahabharata. He is the most valiant of the five princes of Pandu. One day, he fought with the god Shiva, who was in the form of a mountain man, and Shiva praised his bravery by bestowing him with weapons such as the divine spear Pāśupata. He also played a major role in the great war against the 100 princes of the Kuru kingdom. The famous Bhagavad Gita is the teaching of Krishna (an incarnation of the god Vishnu) to him.

インドの大叙事詩『マハーバーラタ』に登場する英雄。パーンドゥの5王子のうちでも最も武勇にすぐれる。あるとき，山男の姿をしたシバ Śiva神と格闘したが，シバは彼の武勇をたたえ，神槍パーシュパタ Pāśupataなどの武器を授けたという。クル国の百王子との大戦争においても大活躍する。有名な『バガバッド・ギーター』は，彼に対するクリシュナ (ビシュヌ神の権化) の教えである。
