Traffic crime

Japanese: 交通犯罪 - こうつうはんざい

This refers to crimes related to land, water, and air traffic. It includes crimes that involve direct damage to people or property or endangerment of traffic (traffic accidents, etc.), as well as traffic violations (violations of various traffic control penalties). Some crimes against land and water traffic (such as traffic obstruction crimes) are stipulated in Chapter 11 of Part 2 of the Penal Code, but other crimes related to land and water traffic, as well as crimes related to air traffic, which has developed significantly in recent years (such as hijacking), are subject to penalties set out in special laws. Of all traffic crimes, road traffic crimes (traffic accidents, traffic violations) are in strong demand for measures due to the high number of cases.

陸上，水上，航空の交通に関連する犯罪をいう。人や物への直接的被害や往来の危険等を伴う犯罪(交通事故等)のほか交通違反(各種の交通取締罰則違反)を含む。陸上および水上交通に対する犯罪のうちの一部(往来妨害罪など)は，刑法第2編第11章に規定されているが，その他の陸上，水上交通に関する犯罪，ならびに近年発達の著しい航空交通に関する犯罪(ハイジャックなど)は，特別法にその罰則が定められている。交通犯罪のうち，発生件数の多さなどから対策を強くせまられているのが，道路交通に関する犯罪(交通事故，交通違反)である。
