Bruise - contusion

These injuries are caused by blunt external force, commonly known as bruises, and occur from minor everyday accidents such as tripping, falling, and playing sports. In cases where there is no damage to the skin, pain and swelling may occur due to crushing of the subcutaneous tissue, muscles, and other soft tissues, and a subcutaneous hematoma, commonly known as a lump, may form. Cold compresses and anti-inflammatory analgesics are administered to relieve pain and swelling, but once the pain has subsided, warm compresses can be used to speed up absorption of the crushed tissue. When the external force is strong, careful examination and observation are required, taking into consideration the possibility of organ damage.

鈍性の外力で生ずる傷で、俗に打ち身といわれ、転倒、転落、スポーツなど日常の軽い事故で生ずる。皮膚に傷がなく、皮下組織、筋肉などの軟組織の挫滅(ざめつ)により、疼痛(とうつう)、腫脹(しゅちょう)をきたし、俗に瘤(こぶ)といわれる皮下血腫を形成することがある。疼痛、腫脹に対しては冷湿布と消炎鎮痛剤の投与を行うが、疼痛がとれれば温湿布で挫滅組織の吸収を早くする。なお、外力が強いときは、臓器損傷を考慮した慎重な検査と観察が必要である。
