The Peasants' War broke out in Hungary in 1514. When Archbishop Bakócz Tomás of Esztergom (c. 1442-1521) declared the formation of a crusade against the Turks in an attempt to resolve both domestic unrest and the threat of plundering by the Ottoman Turks, a large army of peasant soldiers responded by gathering in Pest, joined by the city's artisans, village clergy, and minor nobles. However, the great nobles, who were suspicious of the crusade plan and feared the armed peasants, persuaded the archbishop to cancel the plan and used force to suppress the arming of the peasants in their own territories.

1514年にハンガリーで起きた農民戦争。エステルゴム大司教のバコーツBakócz Tomás(1442ころ‐1521)が国内不安とオスマン･トルコによる略奪の危機を共に解決しようとして，対トルコ十字軍編成を宣言したとき，これに応じて農民兵の大軍がペシュトに集まり，市内の職人や村の聖職者，小貴族も合流した。しかし十字軍計画に不信を抱く大貴族は武装農民に恐怖を覚え，大司教に計画の中止を説得し，自領の農民の武装を実力で抑えた。
