Nap - Nap

Japanese:
Nap - Nap

Sleeping during the day is also called an afternoon nap. Since nighttime sleep is normal for adults, we will focus on infants here. Infants have a high metabolism and are active, and because they are still developing, they need to get enough sleep. Until they are one month old, they often sleep most of the time except when breastfeeding or defecating. After that, until about three months old, they sleep 2-8 hours a day and night, but from about three months old, they start to sleep without waking up at night. From three months to one year old, they sleep 10-12 hours at night and 4-6 hours during the day, but after one year old, the amount of naps they take decreases. Until they reach toddlerhood, they cannot meet their required sleep time at night alone, so they need to take naps to make up for it. The amount of time they need to take a nap varies depending on age, individual differences, and differences due to living conditions, but infants need one nap in the morning and one in the afternoon. Many children stop taking naps when they reach the age of 3 or 4, but as this is a time when playtime activity is prominent, one nap in the afternoon is appropriate. In particular, it is advisable to encourage children to take naps as much as possible during the summer to ensure they get enough rest.
