Shelf/Store - Tana

Japanese:
Shelf/Store - Tana
It is an abbreviation of "mise-dana" (a stand on which goods are displayed), and by extension, refers to a store where goods are displayed. It is already written in the Tale of Utsubo that "fish and salt would be brought in on an empty cart, and the customers would read them and set them on the shelves to sell," and in the ancient fan-shaped sutra copy at Shitennoji Temple, a shelf was set up in front of the store and persimmons were placed on it for sale. As mentioned above, it can be seen as a shelf for selling goods during the Heian period, but in the Kamakura period, it came to be used as the business rights of a za. In Shijo-cho, Kyoto, there is a shelf for a kirikagaza, and the rights to the za are bought and sold along with the building itself.
