He was active in the Osaka lecture world. He was a disciple of Yoshida Ippo, and later traveled around the country to study lectures. He was also known as Okazaki Hyobu, and it is said that he gave lectures on military texts under the name Tenzan and on Shinto under the name Hyobu.
