Tatsuta

A district of Ikaruga Town, Ikoma County, in northwestern Nara Prefecture. Formerly Tatsuta Town. Located at the southern foot of the Yata Hills, the area along the Tatsuta River has long been known as a famous spot for maple leaves, and the prefectural Tatsuta Park is located here. It is said that Tatsuta Shrine was enshrined from Tatsuta Taisha (Misato Town) as a guardian deity when Horyuji Temple was built. In the early Edo period, it was the jinya town of the Katagiri clan's Tatsuta Domain, and also a town along the Osaka Kaido.

奈良県北西部、生駒(いこま)郡斑鳩(いかるが)町の一地区。旧竜田町。矢田丘陵南麓(なんろく)を占め、竜田川沿いは古くからもみじの名所として知られ、県立竜田公園がある。龍田神社は、法隆寺建立の際に鎮守として龍田大社（三郷(さんごう)町）から勧請(かんじょう)したといわれる。江戸時代初期には片桐(かたぎり)氏竜田藩の陣屋町であり、また大坂街道に沿う街村であった。
