Tachigoke - Tachigoke

Japanese:
Tachigoke - Tachigoke
A general term for the moss genus Atrichum in the Polytrichumaceae family. There are about 40 species in the world, of which 4 are found in Japan. Unlike the Polytrichum genus, the thin plate on the leaf surface is limited to the midvein, and most of the leaf is made up of a single layer of cells, and when it dries, it shrinks significantly. The capsule is curved and cylindrical, with a long, beak-like protrusion at the tip, and based on this characteristic, it is called crane's-bill moss. The capsule cap is hairless. A. undulatum (Hedw.) P.Beauv. is widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere.

Japanese:
ナミガタタチゴケA.undulatum (Hedw.) P.Beauv.
