Ishvarakrishna (English spelling)

His birth and death years and biography are unknown. He was an Indian philosopher from around the 5th century. His Chinese name was Jizaikoku. He is the author of the Samkhya Kalika (Ge to the Numerology), the basic textbook of the Samkhya school. It is said that the book was written during the time of Vasubandhu (c. 400-480). He organized the theories that had been held in the school up until that point, and summarized the theory of the creation and transformation of the world (transformation theory) and the theory of liberation using the dualism of mind (spiritual self) and non-mind (essence) and 25 principles. Many commentaries were later made on the book, one of which was translated into Chinese as the Seventy Treatises on Gold by Zhenji, who came to China in 546.

生没年、伝記は不明。5世紀ごろのインドの哲学者。漢訳名は自在黒(じざいこく)。サーンキヤ学派の基本的教科書『サーンキヤ・カーリカー』（数論偈(すろんげ)）の著者。その書は仏教の世親(せしん)（400ころ―480ころ）の時期につくられたともいわれる。彼はそれまで同学派に行われていた説を整理し、精神（霊我）と非精神（原質）との二元および25の原理をもって、世界の生成変化（転変説）と解脱(げだつ)論を要約した。同書はのちに多くの注釈書がつくられ、その一つが、546年に中国に渡来した真諦(しんだい)によって『金七十論(きんしちじゅうろん)』として漢訳された。
