The name of a sandstone found in Yoshii-machi, Tano-gun, Gunma Prefecture. It belongs to the Tertiary layer, and has coarse light brown grains with a woodgrain pattern. It is hard and durable, but does not become shiny even when polished. The quarry is small and the amount of production is small, but the unique striped pattern blends well with Japanese-style architecture, and it has a unique character that is hard to give up.
