It is also called the barracks of the samurai who guarded the Imperial Palace, because it was here. [1] 〘名〙① 滝の流れ落ちる所。滝の落ち口。※吉野拾遺（１４Ｃ後）下「三吉野にありと聞こえし滝口か落ては名をも流しけるかな」② 清涼殿の東北方にある御溝水(みかわみず)の落ちる所。また、ここに内裏警護の武士の詰所があったところから、その詰所もいう。滝口所。※西宮記（969頃）八「滝口在_二御所近辺_一、寛平被_レ置_二衆十_一」③ 蔵人所(くろうどどころ)に属し、②の詰所にいて、宮中の警衛や雑役にあたった武士。滝口の武士。※枕（１０Ｃ終）五六「たきぐちの弓鳴らし、沓の音し、そそめき出づると」[2] 「たきぐちにゅうどう（滝口入道）」(一)の略。※俳諧・鷹筑波（1642）三「横笛にこそこころみだるれ滝口(タキぐち)や恋ゆへ世をも捨ぬらん」
