Itys - Itys

…the sister of Prokne, who was married to the Thracian king Tereus. Tereus had a child with Prokne, Itys, but he falsely assumed that Prokne had died and summoned Philomela, raped her, and then cut off her tongue to keep her quiet. Philomela, however, after much effort, wove a message into her robe announcing her misfortune and sent it to her sister. Prokne then tracked her down, killed Itys, and offered her body to her husband.
