Takamiya [town] - Takamiya

Japanese: 高宮[町] - たかみや

A former town in Takada County, northern Hiroshima Prefecture. The San'in Line and Chugoku Expressway run along the Gonokawa River, which runs along the northern border. The town is mainly involved in rice farming, dairy farming and poultry farming due to its high altitude. Forestry is also practiced. There is a reverse fault zone (a natural monument) in Funasa. In March 2004, it merged with the towns of Yoshida, Yachiyo, Midori, Koda and Mukaihara in Takada County to form Aki-Takata City. Area: 124.46 ^km2 . Population: 4,568 (2003).

広島県北部，高田郡の旧町。北境を流れる江の川(ごうのかわ)に沿って三江線，中国自動車道が通じる。米作と，高冷地のため酪農，養鶏が中心。林業も行われる。船佐に逆断層帯（天然記念物）がある。2004年３月高田郡吉田町，八千代町，美土里町，甲田町，向原町と合併し，安芸高田市となる。124.46km²。4568人（2003）。
