Takami Mountains - Takamisanchi

A mountain range stretching from east to west in the mid-west of Mie Prefecture, north of the upper reaches of the Kushida River. It stretches for about 25 kilometers from Tsubonegatake (1,029 meters) in the east to Takamiyama (1,248 meters) in the west, and the ridgeline of the western half forms the prefectural border between Mie and Nara. The great Median Tectonic Line fault, which divides Southwest Japan into the Inner and Outer Zones, runs through the southern foot of this mountain range, and steep slopes with a height difference of about 200 meters run from east to west like a folding screen, with a row of cairn ridges lined up in front of them, and a typical fault topography can be seen, with a cairn bat continuing between the fault scarp and the cairn ridge. The western half of the mountain range belongs to Muro Akame Aoyama Quasi-National Park, and the eastern half belongs to Akame Ichishikyo Prefectural Natural Park, and there are many suitable locations for mountain climbing, hiking, fishing, and camping.

三重県中西部、櫛田(くしだ)川上流の北側に東西に連なる山地。東の局(つぼね)ヶ岳（1029メートル）から西の高見山（1248メートル）まで延長約25キロメートルで、西半部の稜線(りょうせん)は三重・奈良の県境をなしている。この山地の南麓(なんろく)を、西南日本を内帯と外帯に分ける中央構造線の大断層が走り、比高約200メートルの急斜面が東西に屏風(びょうぶ)のように連なり、その前面にケルンコルの列が並び、断層崖(がい)とケルンコルの間にケルンバットが続く典型的な断層地形をみることができる。山地の西半部は室生赤目青山国定公園(むろうあかめあおやまこくていこうえん)に、東半部は赤目一志(あかめいちし)峡県立自然公園に属し、登山、ハイキング、釣り、キャンプなどの適地が多い。
