Voltage control

Voltage control
It is used in two ways: to control the voltage at a point in a power system, and to control the speed of a motor by controlling the magnitude of the supply voltage. In either case, nowadays, a power converter is usually used as the control means.
[Generator output voltage control]
The field current is controlled so that the output voltage of a generator connected to a power grid or an independent load is kept constant regardless of fluctuations in the load size.
[Voltage control with stabilized power supply]
Stabilized power supplies used as power sources for communication devices, information processing devices, electronic devices, and the like also control the supply voltage to a constant value regardless of changes in the load current.
