Ushitsu

Japanese: 宇出津 - うしつ
Ushitsu
The former town area is located in the southern part of Noto Town in northern Ishikawa Prefecture. In 1889, one town and two villages in the vicinity were merged to form a town. In 1955, it merged with parts of Ogi Town, Minami Village, and Kanno Village to form Noto Town, and in 2005, it merged with Yanagida Village and Uchiura Town to form Noto Town. It developed around a port facing a small bay on the northeastern coast of the Noto Peninsula, and has been a place of fixed net fishing (→ fixed net fishing) since the Edo period. It was also a commercial port connecting Oku-Noto with Nanao and Toyama until the opening of the Noto Line. It is a representative fishing port in Uchiura, and a large amount of yellowtail is landed using fixed net fishing. Jomon Mawaki Onsen and Benten Island are nearby, making it a base for tourism in Uchiura.
