Japanese: 新人画会 - しんじんがかい

A group of Western-style painters active during the Pacific War. Formed in April 1943 by Aimitsu, Saburo Aso, Wasaburo Itozono, Chozaburo Inoue, and Masaaki Terada, all members of the Art and Culture Association, Shunsuke Matsumoto of the Nikakai, Masao Tsuruoka of NOVA, and Goro Ohno of the Independent Art Association. Society had already been completely painted in wartime colors, and many artists in the art world were asked to cooperate in the war effort, leading to the production of so-called war paintings to boost morale. In this situation, these artists banded together to maintain their position as citizens and to avoid losing their humanity in their work.

太平洋戦争中に活動した洋画家のグループ。1943年4月，美術文化協会に属する靉光，麻生三郎，糸園和三郎，井上長三郎，寺田政明，二科会の松本竣介，ノバ(NOVA)の鶴岡政男，独立美術協会の大野五郎が集まって結成した。すでに社会は戦時色一色に塗りこめられ，美術界にも戦争遂行へ協力が求められて従事する画家が多く，戦意昂揚のためのいわゆる戦争画が盛んに描かれていた。そうした状況の中で，これらの画家たちは，市民としての立場を守り，表現に人間性を失うまいとして結束した。
