Victor Tausk

Austrian psychoanalyst. One of S. Freud's early disciples, he contributed to the integration of psychoanalysis and psychopathology, and to the psychoanalytic study of psychosis. He was also the first to introduce the concepts of identity and ego boundaries into the field of psychoanalysis. His major work was The Influence Machine in Schizophrenia (1919). Later, he became emotionally entangled with Freud, who was uncomfortable with his intellectual ambition and claims to originality. After a relationship with the idiosyncratic female writer Salome (Andreas-Salome), he committed suicide eight days before his wedding to his fiancée.

オーストリアの精神分析医。S.フロイト初期の弟子の一人で，精神分析と精神病理学の統合，精神病の精神分析的研究に貢献した。また，同一性や自我境界の概念を，はじめて精神分析の領域に導入した。主著は《精神分裂病における影響機械》(1919)。後になって，彼の知的野心や独創性の主張に不快を感じていたフロイトと感情的なもつれを引き起こし，特異な女流作家ザロメ(アンドレアス･ザロメ)との交際を経て，婚約者との結婚8日前に自殺した。
