A cheap, popular novel that was popular in America. It stands for 10-cent novel, and is said to have begun in 1860 when Erastus Beadle published Ann S. Stephens' Malaesca, A White Hunter's Indian Wife for one dime (10 cents), which was a big hit. After that, he published 31 series, including the Dime Novel series, and 3,158 works, making a huge profit.
