doctrine of domicile

...the doctrine of adopting nationality as the standard for determining the personal law of natural persons in international private law. It is opposed to the domicile doctrine, which generally requires that nationality be determined by domicile. Since the medieval European school of legal classification, the law relating to persons has been subject to the domicile law, but after the French Civil Code revised this, in the mid-19th century, scholars who emphasized the ethnicity of law, such as Italian PS Mancini, argued that nationality, which is the basis of ethnicity, should be the standard for determining personal law.
