Mount Taihei

Japanese: 太平山 - たいへいざん

It is the main peak of the Taihei Mountains in the central Dewa Mountains in central Akita Prefecture. It stands on the border between Akita City and Kamikoani Village. It is 1,170m above sea level. In the past it was called "Oidarayama." It is a mature mountain, and the river valley has been significantly eroded. The river is clear as it flows through a granite mountain range, and Nibetsu Gorge, Sannai Gorge, and Sodani Gorge, which are close to the village, are famous scenic spots. Up to an altitude of 800m, the forest is Akita cedar, and above that, it is beech forest. The area centered on Mt. Taihei is designated as Mt. Taihei Prefectural Natural Park.

Mount Ohira

A mountain in the southeastern end of the Ashio Mountains in southern Tochigi Prefecture. It is 343m above sea level and is made up of Paleozoic chert. Taihei-san Shrine is located on the summit, and the area is famous for its cherry blossoms and azaleas. It is the center of Taihei-san Prefectural Natural Park.

秋田県の中央，出羽山地中部の太平山地の主峰。秋田市，上小阿仁村の境にそびえる。標高 1170m。古くは「おいだら山」と呼ばれた。壮年期の山で，河谷の浸食が著しい。河川は花崗岩の山地を流れるため清流で，里に近い仁別峡，三内峡，岨谷峡などは景勝地として有名。標高 800mまでは秋田杉，それ以上はブナの森林となる。太平山を中心とする一帯は太平山県立自然公園に指定されている。
