A Chinese national movement against Japan's aggressive political and economic advance, with the pretext of excluding Japanese goods. The nationwide boycott movement began with the boycott of the United States in 1905 (Guangxu 31). The boycott of Japan continued with the Second Tatsumaru Incident (Tatsumaru Incident) in 1908, the Anfeng Railway reconstruction issue in 1909, opposition to the Twenty-One Demands in 1915, and the May Fourth Movement from 1919 to 1921. After the movement demanding the return of Port Arthur and Dalian in 1923, reflecting the establishment of the Chinese Communist Party and the intensification of the labor movement, it was renamed the economic severance movement, and continued for over a dozen years, including movements related to the May 30th Incident in 1925 and 1926, those against the Shandong Expedition in 1927 and 1928, those related to the Northern Expedition and the Jinan Incident in 1928 and 1929, and economic severance movements in opposition to the Manchurian Incident and the Shanghai Incident in 1931 and 1932.
